Hippolyte Romain is a born and bred Parisian artist who with a flick of a squirrel hair brush creates dreamy scenes of modern day Paris. I found Hippolyte by accident when a friend of mine suggested that I check out the sublime 'artists tea room' he has created in an ancient hothouse that was built for Princess Eugenie in the Jardin d'Acclimatation. I am so proud to have six of his incredible visions of Paris in Paris Tango. I love his elegant eye for detail, his black strokes of women in the Artists, his extravagantly dressed and undressed women backstage at the Haute Couture, his mixture of true Parisians in burka's and on roller skates in front of Cafe de Flore, the chaos and colour of the dancers in La Bal, the assortment of dogs and the well dressed children peacefully strolling in a Parisian garden. Thanks Hippolyte....

Insight photos by Dustin Humphrey
I have fallen head over heels in love with these images created by photographer Dustin Humphrey for Australian clothing brand Insight that I found on my new favourite design blog Yatzer. I have been the loving owner of a Nikonos underwater camera for over five years but Dustin Humphrey has taken underwater photography to new heights. The octupus's garden with a twist. Beautiful work
Italian Vogue and Velvet
I was in Italy last week for work and other than eat myself silly I loaded up on Italian fashion magazines. Vogue Italia and the supplement Haute Couture weighs a hefty two kilos and is full of my favourites, Paolo Roversi, Emma Summerton and Peter Lindbergh.. The fabulous Daphne Guiness stars in a photo shoot with Steven Meisel in the supplement and Paolo Roversi shines again with his mystical blurry photos I love.
Velvet is modern and colourful and also weighs in at almost two kilos. Two kilos of fab photos and fashion with gorgeous graphics. Photos by Takay
Carla Loves........ her nieces to pieces
I was looking through my old negs the other day and loved these mad photos of my nieces. One of my photographic obsessions has been my Nikonos V underwater camera and over the past five summers whenever I was home in Australia we would head to beach or the pool and I would go mad with the camera. I lovethe game as much as the kids. These are some shots of my nieces Isabella and Eliza, I love them (the photos and my nieces).....
Loving Patrick Demarchelier...at the Petit Palais
One of the greatest ways to get over the holiday blues in Paris (I know that will sound strange to many of you) is to grab the Pariscope and make a big juicy list of exhibtions for the coming month. At the Le Petit Palais Musée des Beaux-arts, 'Patrick Demarchelier: Image and Fashion' is showing from September 29 to January 4, 2009. I am a giant fan of Demarchelier in particular I am made about the recent Pirelli Calendar he did with an Asian theme. Love it!! There is a good interview at http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/main.jhtml?xml=/fashion/2008/09/02/efpatrick102.xml
A Greek Portfolio Constantine Manos
Whilst waiting for the flying cat to leave our small cycladic Island I found the wonderful book A Greek Portolio by Constantine Manos. I quicky grabbed a copy and made for the boat. This book is a class act in reportage photography. Constantine Manos of Greek origin travelled to Greece in the 60's and spent three years photographing the traditional mountain villages and islands. When I finally got to the end and read his biography it was without surprise I read that he has been a member of the magnum agency for many years. Beautiful photos of a time almost passed...check out his work at http://costamanos.com.
