Miss Dominican Republic, Ada Aimée De la Cruz, the 1st runner up in the 2009 Miss Universe pageant held on August 23, 2009, is one such beauty. According to her bio, Ada was born in Villa Mella and raised in Villa Altagacia and lives with her mother, grandparents, her younger brother and little cousin. In the Dominican press, she is fondly referred to as the Dominican Cinderella because her grandmother was a maid and her family grew up poor.
